Overview

This temple is known for Nail-pulling Jizo, which was founded by Kobo Daishi in the 9th century (819). The main deity, Nail-pulling Jizo, is said to remove various kinds of suffering.

Senbon-Enma-do

The main deity is King Enma, and the temple is commonly known as “Senbon Enma-do.

Enma’s scary face makes us think that he is the ruler of hell, but in fact, he is the most familiar Buddha to us, in charge of the human world.
